Hyatt Regency in Valencia, CA
I really enjoyed staying at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. It is so convenient, near shops, dining and movies.

Santa Clarita Motel on Railroad Blvd (becomes Bouquet which goes directly to Joan's location)
In October 2016 I stayed at the Santa Clarita Motel on Railroad Blvd (becomes Bouquet which goes directly to Joan's location).
It is a budget motel, family-run and a great choice for the budget conscious. I used Booking.com to reserve my room, my credit card was not charged until check-in, and Booking.com lets you cancel with no penalty up to 24 hours.
My room was clean, comfortable, and came with a microwave and refrigerator which helped me save on meals. The bed was comfortable, the towels were thin but plentiful, and bathroom was clean, and the front office has free coffee and a pastry in the morning. Cable TV, and Wifi is free. I had a ground-floor room and I was not bothered by any of my neighbors on the side or above.
Cons: You will need earplugs. This motel is across the street from the railroad, the trains run at night, and Railroad Blvd is HEAVILY traveled. I heard every car, bus, truck, 18-wheeler and motorcycle even at 2 AM Sunday morning my first night. My room was also right up front, which did not help. After I purchased ear plugs, I slept just fine.
This place is full all the time. Parking is a problem if you show up late at night.
Check-in as soon as possible. This place fills up, and if there is a problem with your room, you can switch but only if you are first in line.
Hampton Inn...right off the 5.
It wasn't bad at all and pretty reasonable cost. Free wifi, breakfast etc.

Travelodge on Sierra Highway
One person had their credit card number stolen. The last time I was in Santa Clarita for a workshop I stayed at the Travelodge on Sierra hwy.
I would NOT recommend it. My credit card number was stolen during that trip, and charged my card for over 1000.00. Thankfully my credit card company didn't hold me responsible for the charges. The hotel actually took an imprint of my card which I thought was unusual. They said they didn't have a credit card machine. It seemed very odd the way they were handling business. and while I can't prove it, I do believe someone there stole my credit card number. Anyway I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone else!
